maybe low 50s for a few of us. a little bit of cloud cover across the northeast and we're getting a little upper level disturbance. that will give us clouds early but i think the clouds will break up quickly and it should be a mostly sunny but cool afternoon. focusing out to the west, this little piece of energy right here out towards st. louis is going to dive down into the -- down towards the gulf of mexico and re-emerge as a coastal nor'easter by about wednesday. we'll be fine until then but i think by late tomorrow, tomorrow night, we'll start to get some clouds. it will be the big turn here and then up the coast. wednesday, it looks like a wet and windy day across the region, particularly washington points east, could be some gusty winds. unfortunately, right where we don't want it. we'll get hit hard with gusty winds wednesday into thursday. the other piece of this is we have to watch exactly the track of the storm. because if it tracks just far enough out to the west, we could have some precipitation issues.

you were here with us last election day. welcome back again. we want to talk first about a trend you've been noticing is changing since the last election cycle. >> right. well, if the voter turn out and results and the 100 most educated counties in the country. these are counties like arlington, and fairfax, and virginia. what we've seen over the course of the last generation also is a tremendous shift. those used to be tried and true moderate republican counties. and the last republican to win a majority of those counties was george h.w. bush in 1992. since then, those counties have been consistently trending towards the democrats. barack obama won 78 of those 100 counties in 2008. when this election is over, one of the first things i'm going to look for is to see whether or not he was able to build on that in this election. if he was, that would explain how he's doing in ohio, virginia, and florida. i think that's one of the numbers you want to look to in the sort of postmortem of this election. >> it seems like the romney campaign felt fairl

thank you for being with us tonight and explaining this to us. i understand this started as a science fair, or science project for the seimens competition. >> it's written in java that can determine where a photograph was taken. >> by looking at the horizon, and you have a prop here. by looking at the picture, the horizon of a picture, how does that help fema say -- find people who need help? victims of the storm. >> it looks at the horizon in this photograph, and then it matches that against data. we can simulate what it's supposed to look like in every location. so it matches all possibilities against the horizon from the photograph and looks for the best match. the best match yields a location. >> that would help them find victims perhaps who they might not be able to reach? >> right. or in this case, we have a lot of pictures of hurricane damage that from hurricane sandy that the gps information was lost somehow. so fema doesn't know where the photographs came from. if they could geolocate the photographs, they would know where they're from.
